Up & at 'em! Early Sunday (for me) at the studio. I've been painting in a corner unit of this West Oakland warehouse for almost 3 decades -- lived above my studio for many of those years (did I just date myself?). The original builder wanted to emulate the design of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's seen many uses & businesses over the years. LONG CAPTION ALERT‼️😆 It’s fun to look back on old #dressedtomatch moments and see how far I’ve come - swipe to see a few! 🤣 The matches have definitely improved over time but one area of growth that is especially glaring (to me anyway) is how my confidence has really evolved 🤩💃🏻 When I started dressedtomatch in 2016 (?) I literally used to crop my face out of all of the images 🙈 My reasoning was: “the matches aren’t about me. Dressed To Match is about the clothes and the art...” WHAT?! 😂 Thankfully I moved on from that phase 😅 and started to show my face but I still was unsure of what I was doing 🤷🏻‍♀️ I constantly thought, “How would my 100 followers receive my matches?” 😬 It was nerve wracking putting myself “out there!” With time, I began focusing less on perception and more on creating my ART and in 2019 I finally shed my persisting apprehensions and declared myself an ARTIST! 🎉🙌🏻 That was really liberating 🤩 I began allowing myself to not only express my creativity through the outfits and art but also through MY personality and passion for my art form! 🥰 I began taking more “risks” with posing as I sought to ADD to my matches rather than SUBTRACT myself from them! 💃🏻 If you got this far, thank you for reading 😂 I truly love creating and the magic of making new matches is as exciting as ever for me!!
