I’m painting in France this month—ALL month—at La Porte Peinte Centre Pour Les Arts, in Noyers sur Serein, a medieval village in the Burgundy region of France. It’s absolutely magical. Today marks one week of this month-long residency. Time spent in the studio increases bit by bit each day, followed by excursions out into the countryside or to neighboring villages. I’m collecting inspiring specimens from—and photos of—my explorations. I enter my studio through a courtyard that ages ago was a medieval barnyard, now full of flowers. Honeysuckle hangs right outside my studio door and windows.
